At this moment, HumanDHCP (Human Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) seems to be a IP asigning system where are the machine who asks for the IP to link the THK LAN. Please open your eyes to learn more about this system and share your knowledge about it here. Just an example: see this:

we've written a python script for ip number generation which will be
used by the human dhcp. if anyone wants to download it and try to
improve it, feel free - just post a message on the list so we can make
sure that the improved version would be used on the THK. we've tried to
use the script from the italian hackmeeting provided by kraken, but it
was written for use with tinydns so we had some trouble "translating" it
to bind (different data file syntax). some of the code was kept from the
original script, but most of it was rewritten.

it's extremely simple and of course it could've been done better, but I
think it will serve us well during the thk.

the script actually generates a random ip address in the given range (we
just have to see if we'll be using a class b or class c network) and
compares it with existing hostnames and ip addresses in the bind data file.

tonight or reply to the mailing list.

I'd just like to encourage the people to try to improve the script as much as possible so the human DHCPs would have a really comfortable software to work with. Again, if you have suggestions, find Francesco (hrd) or me (Nikola) or post a message on the mailing list.
