Train to Zagreb/Mestre/Trieste and then by bus to Pula
The easiest way to reach Pula is to travel to Zagreb (if you're coming from east/north) or Mestre / Triste (if you're coming from west) by the train, and then proceed by bus.
You can find european train schedule on Deutsche bahn page (
http://www.bahn.de) (available also in english).
If you're traveling to Zagreb, make sure to select Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor as a place of arrival in Zagreb. Then, reach the Zagreb bus station (use tram for that) and there ask for the "fast bus" going to Pula. Here you can see:
ZagrebPulaBusSchedule.
If you're traveling to Trieste (Italy) by train, and then by bus to Pula, beware of Venezia/Mestre – Trieste train: it's otfen late, so make sure you leave enough time to catch a bus in Trieste.
You can check Pula bus schedule, along with prices, on
http://www.pulainfo.hr/en/autobus.asp.
Train to Pula (via Zagreb)
...or better
till Rijeka by train and then
by bus to Pula
Probably the cheapest way to come to Pula is by train only. But it's quite long. You can reach Zagreb with fast train connections but the train for Rijeka is not that fast. From Rijeka you can continue the trip with the train ticket because the railway company arranged a bus that will pick you up in Rijeka and take you through a car tunnel to a train station Lupoglav. There you can continue the trip with the train to Pula. Last railway's bus from Rijeka leaves at 19:20.

Note: The train connection Rijeka-Pula is slow as hell. If you want to spare some time, take the train to Rijeka only and than
take a bus to Pula (from the Rijeka central bus station). There are many buses Rijeka - Pula every day (every 2-3 hours) and the journey is around 2h:15min).
Boat to Pula
You can reach Pula by boat from Zadar (HR) and Venice (IT).
During september, boat from Zadar leaves every wednesday and saturday at 7:00 AM.

From Venice, there is a high-speed catamaran connection from Venice. Check the time table:

By car
from the west: Trieste - Koper - Buje - Pula

WARNING! the way from Trieste to the slovenian border is tricky ...
Don't expect to find clear directions to Koper. The other name of the city is Capodistria ( = Koper ) and the name of the corresponding border is Rabuiese, on the italian side. You can also follow the direction of Muggia ( which is still in Italy ) and the name of the road is SS 15. After that the direction to Pula is clearly shown right from the slovenian border.
from the north: Villach - Ljubljana - Koper - Buje - Pula
from the east: Zagreb - Rijeka - Tunnel Učka - Pazin - Pula
Plane to Pula, Rijeka, Zagreb or Ljubljana
Pula has it's own international airport (

Rijeka has it's own international airport (

ONCE YOU ARE IN PULA...
Monteparadiso is located in former military barracks “Karlo Rojc”, Gajeva 3
Most of the distances you can walk, from Rojc bulding to the city center it's about 10 min, to the beach 15-20min, to the central bus station around 20 min, railway station is 25min away.
Pula has no cheap taxis except for
CityCar (ride inside the town is around 30 Kunas).
In case it rains (or you want to inspect Pula city buses

) this is the map:
Probably you'll use only lines numbered 1, 2 and 3 to reach more distant beaches or something. Lines 2 and 3 are circular so you can have a ride or two to see how this town look from the bus.
The ticket bought in the bus (drivers sell tickets and controls them) cost 11 kunas (= 1,5 EUR).
Buses go more or less every 20 minutes, not after 22:30 in the evenings.
Youth Hostel
See the location of YH Pula on the city map - just follow the road "Prekomorskih brigada", go straight on the last traffic lights, then first right, first left and you're @ the
Hostel
Rojc building
Karlo Rojc (pronounced Roytz) building is the biggest building in town of Pula. So everybody knows about it's location. On the following map you can see how to reach Rojc if u r comming to Pula from Trieste or Rijeka
The fast road coming from Trieste and Rijeka has the shape of a letter Y therefore it's called
Istrian Y. When on Ipsilon follow the signs for Pula and you can't miss.

When in Pula, you'll pass the Mercator shopping center on your right side. Continue along "Šijanska" road an on the first traffic lights (on the right you'll see Aruba night bar) go left and imeddiately straight in direction for "Marina Veruda". You're on the "Prekomorskih brigada" road.
On the second trafic light turn right (most of the people will turn left going to Medulin) and on your left side you can see OMV gass station (a very popular one as it works till quite late in the night!).
Comming from the hill ("Mutilska" road) you'll pass the first (small) traffic lights (don't go left yet) and on the bigger trafic lights turn left towards the "Marulićeva" road. Follow the road and you'll turn right to "Kranjčevićeva" road, pass the traffic lights and when you turn right you'll reach "Gajeva" road. The Rojc building entrance (on the right side) will lead you to the
big parking place, and there's some
shade for the cars if you're lucky enough to find free space
